About BorrowSmart

WELCOME from the National Executive Director

BorrowSmart, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, is focused on educating homeowners about the home equity borrowing process. Since 2001, we and our partners have been actively engaged in the communities we serve. We provide financial literacy education and information for consumers so that they can leverage the equity they have accumulated in their homes for expanding family needs such as home remodeling, education or to start a new business. BorrowSmart also works with legislators, credit and housing counselors and other financial partners to get needed information and educational materials to homeowners.

This year, BorrowSmart greatly expanded our national reach. As we have traveled across the country for meetings and partner trainings, one thing remains crystal clear, we have the opportunity to be on the forefront of providing excellent financial literacy education which is more important now than ever before. All of our partners have made significant financial contributions in allowing us to offer new training entitled, “Saving Our Communities, One House at a Time.” Each of our partners has our deep appreciation for their continuing support.

As we have grown, we have focused our efforts in four key empowerment areas:

  • Home Ownership Retention
  • Foreclosure Prevention
  • Financial Literacy
  • Economic Empowerment

This year, we are implementing our development plan with the ambitious goal of raising $10 million over the next 36 months.

The staff and I are working diligently to clarify our message so that everyone is saying and hearing the same thing across the country – whether we are in casual conversation or speaking before a large audience.

Join us as we expand our programs and services by foraging new national alliances and partnerships. The time is now to become a partner of BorrowSmart!
