Headed for financial trouble? Get help NOW!
|
Help is available if you get into financial trouble and start having problems making your loan payments. However, it's vital for you to get help early, before you fall behind on your payments. That means recognizing the signs that you might be headed for financial trouble:
- Have you lost a job or had to take a significant pay cut?
- Has your family been hit with a major unexpected expense (for example, hospital bills from an illness)?
- Are you sometimes unable to pay all your monthly bills?
- Are you running up your credit cards to pay routine monthly expenses?
- As your credit card debt so high that you can only afford to make the minimum payments every month?
If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you should act NOW, before you get in over your head, get so far behind on your payments you can't catch up, and maybe even lose your house:
- Call your lender. Lenders want you to be able to repay your loan, and will work with you to adjust terms or payment schedules.
- Call a credit counseling service. A counselor can help you rearrange your budget, work with lenders to come up with a payment plan you can manage, help you consolidate or refinance your debts, and more.
