Talk to a credit counselor before you borrow to avoid unnessary costs and headaches

If you haven't already talked to a credit counselor, now is the time. A counselor can help you answer questions like:

• What kind of home equity loan is right for me?
• What size loan and monthly payment can I afford?
• Should I be considering alternatives to a home equity loan?
• With my income and credit history, what kind of loan can I qualify for?
• How can I find a good lender?
• What should I do if I get into financial trouble?

Getting the answers to questions like these before you even talk to a lender can save you a lot of money in loan fees and monthly payments once you actually take out a loan. Taking the time to talk to a counselor could even save your house!

There are counselors all over the country who can help with little or no cost to you. Click here to find one in your community.
